At the same time as getting The Art Room ready for opening and putting together a sneek peak feature for Design*Sponge , I am currently working on new sculptural pieces like the one featured above left for Canvas Gallery. The preparation process is involved: first I prime the wood pieces on all sides, then cover the front and back of each with canvas, and then I prime the canvas and edges with two coats of gesso. Only after these steps can I begin painting each side a different colour. I do this so that you can rearrange the sculpture and create your own colour combinations (each slat rotates around the central steel support). I will post pictures of when they are finished!
